Deadline for submission:
EPUAP Investigator Awards until 10 February 2022.
EPUAP Quality Improvement Project Awards and EPUAP Excellence in Education Awards until 25 April 2022.
Focus: The EPUAP Investigator Awards are awarded for a significant, internationally-recognized contribution to pressure ulcer research and comprise:
The EPUAP Early Stage Investigator Award (awarded to a researcher at an early career stage)
The EPUAP Experienced Investigator Award (awarded for a significant, internationally-recognized contribution to pressure ulcer research)
Both prizes can be awarded for either basic science or clinical science achievements, and they reflect accomplishments that clearly contributed to advances in the field.
Deadline: 10 February 2022
- Candidates cannot nominate themselves but are free to ask a colleague with standing in a research institution (such as a Professor, Department Chair, Dean, etc.) to apply in a letter for nomination on their behalf.
- Nomination for each of the prize types should include:
- Nomination letter from a nominating person who is not the applicant (see above): The letter should contain text at the length of up to one page, but not less than half a page. The letter should explain why the candidate is being nominated for the prize (please specify which prize: Novice or Experienced Investigator) and what are the important contributions made by the candidate to pressure ulcer research. The letter should be printed on institutional letterhead and be signed by the nominating person.
- Full Curriculum Vitae of the candidate for the prize, including a complete list of publications (journal articles, books and book chapters, conference proceedings, patents and other).

Laureates of the EPUAP Novice and Experienced Investigator Awards will be required to give talks at the EPUAP Annual Conference following the Award Notification, in a special plenary session named “The EPUAP Novice and Experienced Investigator Award Lectures”. This is a condition for receiving the award. Each talk should be approximately 20 minutes.
The EPUAP will cover travels from/to a European destination, conference registration and accommodation of laureates.
Focus: This award aims to recognize and acknowledge innovative quality improvement projects relating to the prevention of skin breakdown.
Deadline: 25th April 2022
Prize: The award winners will be presenting their projects at the Annual Meeting of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel in Prague, Czech Republic.
A new approach of risk assessment and prevention: using the UZ Leuven risk assessment in a pro-active pressure ulcer prevention policy; Annelies de Graaf, Belgium
The development of the Purpose T pressure ulcer risk instrument into an electronic questionnaire to support mobile working; Nikki Stubbs, United Kingdom
Striving for Perfect Care – preventing skin breakdown in the community setting in the UK; Nicky Ore, United Kingdom
Focus: This award aims to recognize and acknowledge excellent education strategies and projects relating to all domains of pressure ulcer prevention and treatment.
Deadline: 25th April 2022
Also, local initiatives are more than welcome to submit an abstract for this award.
A separate session will be dedicated to the Excellence in Education Awards.
The winners will receive free registration for the EPUAP 2023 conference.
EPUAP launches a specific call for abstracts for this award.
The call includes a different abstract template than for traditional research projects. Please download the abstract template HERE (the maximum number of words is 450). All abstracts should be submitted in English via email to the EPUAP Business Office, firstname.lastname@example.org. The abstracts will be reviewed by the EPUAP Scientific Committee (the 2 best papers will be selected). All award winners must register for the conference.
